Directions

NOTE When getting into Crestone, GPS devices are sometimes routing through roads that are not really accessible. These are rough roads suited for 4x4 vehicles and even some of those vehicles might not make it. Please make sure, while coming from Road T, to go all the way up to Camino Baca Grande and turn right. And then stay on Camino Baca Grande to get to the Ashram.

From Denver take Highway 285 south approx. 150 miles to Highway 17 south approx 14 miles to Moffat. One block past Moffat turn left at Crestone sign onto Road T. Follow Road T for about 12 miles and then take a right onto Camino Baca Grande at the sign for the Baca Grants and Chalets. Follow this road for approx. 2.6 miles where it will then turn into a dirt road and continue for another .8 miles until you see the driveway for the Ashram on your left. Please make sure to use a low gear when climbing the driveway and do not stop! If you prefer to use the web or a navigational device for directions, please make sure to confirm the correct location. One of the blessings of the Ashram is it's remote and tranquil location. This, however, poses a challenge when it comes to digital navigation as our address is not registered correctly with most providers. By Train/Bus from Denver International Airport (DIA) take the A Line Commuter Train to Denver Union Station. Trains depart the airport every 15 minutes throughout the day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Early morning and late evening trips depart every 30 minutes. More info on the train is available at these sites: rtd-denver and flydenver. The current fare is $10. Please allow at least 3-4 hrs between your flight arrival time at DIA and bus departure time at Denver Union Station. That is, arrive at DIA by 10 AM (preferably), or 11 AM at the latest.

The destination from Denver Union Station will be Moffat, which is the closest town to Crestone that a bus service runs to. This is done by taking the following route: Denver -> Salida -> Moffat. The bus provider has changed over the years. The current provider is Bustang. The Bustang route to go to Salida from Denver is the Crested Butte - Denver (Southbound) route. Bustang bus departs from Union Station Transit Center | 1700 Wewatta St | Wewatta Pavilion (underground concourse). The Crested Butte bus departs Union Station at 1:50 PM daily. This bus will take you to Salida, from there you will transfer to the Alamosa bus (Alamosa - Pueblo (Southbound) route). Moffat is a stop before Alamosa. The bus to Alamosa always waits for the Denver bus to arrive, before leaving Salida. So don't worry about the connection if the bus from Denver is running late. Note that the fare is CASH ONLY, when paying on the bus. The driver will also not provide any change, so make sure you have the exact amount. Bustang also has a Mobile App to make ticket purchases, please check their website for App download links. You will need to get the Bustang Outrider app. The current fare is $29 from Denver to Salida and $7 from Salida to Moffat.

Please remember to arrange pickup with the Ashram if you intend to take the bus. Once you arrive in Moffat at approximately 6:20 PM, someone from the Ashram will pick you up and bring you to the Ashram. The travel time from Salida to Moffat is approximately 45 minutes. If possible, please call the Ashram and give us a heads up when departing the Salida bus stop. This will help us plan accordingly, in case there are delays.
